Our musical at the Scranton Community Center will be April 1, 2023. Our dinner will be hosted by Margaret Starr of Anson. Spaghetti, salad and bread will be served along with pie or other dessert for a $7 donation. Tea or coffee with free refills are also included with the meal. Food is served at 5 PM and the music starts at 5:30.

The Sheriff’s Office had a great time today talking with all the kids at Mulberry School in Eastland. They got to see the cars and learn about 911 with Cell Phone Sally!

Ranger Veteran’s Support Group invited everyone to a celebration Saturday at Ranger Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park in honor of National Vietnam War Veteran’s Day, March 29th.

The Lady Cat golfers competed at Shady Oaks and had tremendous improvement. Ashley Bogner shot her personal best of 91 while Monica Sandoval improved her score. Great job Lady Cat Golfers!

It’s early, maybe too early to be declaring so soon but from one who has “laid low” for many months due to certain physical conditions.

ST. PATRICK’S DAY AT THE VFW IN EASTLAND--Pictured (L-R) are: Whitney Weed, Butch Fraser, Travis Weed at the St. Patrick’s party held at VFW Post 4136 in Eastland on Friday night, March 17. Pizza, pool, and karaoke was enjoyed by many attendees. This was also Butch Fraser’s birthday celebrated with a cake. Butch has operated the karaoke for many years and is well liked by many.

Dine in or take out chili meals will be available for sale Wednesday, April 5 at Bethel Baptist Church in Eastland from 11 AM to 1:30 PM. Meal for $7.00 will include cobbler or other dessert, nacho peppers, onions, cheese, and tea or water. Or you may want to make a Frito chili pie. Most of the area’s top track and field athletes will converge on Eastland on Thursday for the running of the 2023 Maverick Relays. The meet will get started at 3:30 p.m. at the EHS track.

Spring just might be our favorite season of the year. Sure, we're excited for warm weather, but it's getting into the garden— and planting flowers— that really brightens our spirits. Spring isn't just a time to add some color to your early-season garden; it's also when you can incorporate flowers that will bloom in summer and into fall and even those that come back each spring for years to come.

Good grief, I hope that was the last cold spell! Of course, this is Texas so who knows. No scissortails yet that I’ve seen and those old mesquites still don’t have leaves so we’ll see.

Spring Bingo April 26, 2023 Come eat, laugh, and have lots of fun and fellowship!

In a previous article, I used the dictionary definition of the word PERVERSION: “to alter something from its original course, its meaning or state, to a distortion of corruption of what was first intended”. Perversion is basically the substance of woke culture along with alphabet ideology about sexual orientation. The logical response of most people would be to correct that which has been corrupted and establish its original intent. A parent does this, using a ‘quiet time’ for a misbehaving child, to think about their actions and correct them.

The Cottonwood Historical Association will again be hosting an entertaining musical line up with dinner on Friday, March 24th. The Musical kicks off with dinner at 5:00 pm until 7:00 or until everything is gone! On the menu is King Ranch Casserole, or sandwich, salad, and your choice of dessert and drinks. The music will start at 5:30 and features a variety of tunes from blue grass to country, some country classics and even rock ‘n roll.

Bethel Baptist Church in Eastland is having a huge Rummage and Bake Sale Friday and Saturday, March 24 and 25 from 8 AM to 5 PM. There will be clothes, children’s sports uniforms, furniture, linens, kitchen stuff, jewelry, purses, toys, glassware, plants, what nots, fabric, craft kits and patterns, and lots of miscellaneous. They will also have bake sale items of cakes, cookies, pies, candies, breads and cobblers. And last but not least there will be raffles. Hope to see you there!!!

In any community large or small, towns, organizations, or families, getting along well makes our lives more pleasant. The more we encourage one another and are kind, the more do part to have this happen.
