EASTLAND – Ben David Lancaster, age 89, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 surrounded by his family. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 13th from 6-8 PM at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, April 14th at First Baptist Church Eastland, with internment following at the Eastland Cemetery.
Ben was born on September 1,1933 in Gary, Texas in Panola County to James Henry Lancaster and Mamie Virginia Westfield Lancaster. He graduated from Marshall High School and proudly served with the US Army in Korea. While working for the T&P Railroad, Ben married Ethelyn Wardine Wallace on June 7,1958 in Arlington, Texas. They were married for 59 years before her passing on July 30, 2017. In 1960, he began his career as an employee of Texas Electric Service Company and remained with the company until retiring in 1992. He was a long serving member of Gideons International and was a Deacon for almost 50 years at various Baptist Churches. He was also a member of the Jaycees and Lions Club. He loved golfing and fishing, and he often said he enjoyed the best crappie fishing while they lived on Hubbard Creek Reservoir (and his family and friends enjoyed his special fish fry recipe).
Mr. Lancaster is survived by two daughters, Kelli Jean Lancaster and Patricia Kay Lancaster Hatton and husband Dickie; three grandchildren, David Thomas Hatton and wife Lauren, Luke Andrew Hatton and wife Kaisha, and Matthew Jacob Hatton and wife Abbey; six great grandchildren, Shelby, James, Benjamin, Shaun, Aubrey, and Harper, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, four brothers, Edward, Huey, Robert, and Clifton, and one sister, Mollie (and their spouses), and his oldest nephew, Mansel Lancaster.
