Eastland PD’s K9 Officer Katie Thompson and K9 Buck recently attended a weeklong certification process with the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA). Thompson and K9 Buck competed against numerous K9 teams around the region.

A farewell reception was held at the Connellee Hotel recently for Tom Bailey, Eastland Economic Development Director. A good crowd showed to wish him well and to welcome his successor, Ryder Warren.

A hotdog benefit sponsored by Stanley Ford of Eastland was held for Joey Sattarphai at Brookshires Saturday.

– Beginning May 2, 2023, the Texas Department of Transportation will temporarily close FM 2214 for a culvert replacement just south of the Chock-A-Block Bridge on Lake Leon.

The pharmacy has opened a state-of-the-art 24/7 health club, equipped with Matrix equipment covering every muscle group and including cardio equipment on the second floor. This new addition is in response to Dr. Benjamin McNabb’s frustration with only being able to provide “50% of the health solution to customers through medication alone.”

Ryan Jones Coach Bobby Schuman has been named as the Head Football Coach of the Eastland Mavericks for the 2023 Football season. Coach Schuman has been with the EISD’s Athletics Department since 2017, and has served as Girl’s Athletic Coordinator, Head Boys and Girls Track Coach, and Maverick Football Special Teams Coordinator.

10th Annual Rip’s Ribs Cook-Off, Wine Festival, Jazz Festival Brings Crowds Saturday to The Square in Eastland

Before Billy Woodrich opened Billy’s Restaurant in Cisco, he was a celebrity chef in Fort Worth. His wife, Christina, had her own business, an online boutique with thousands of followers, which she operated from the family’s home garage.

Eastland County Community Choir will begin rehearsals on Monday, May 1 at FBC Eastland Choir room. Rehearsals are at 6:30 pm. The choir will again be preparing several songs from a Patriotic musical.
