The Eastland Mavericks ran headlong onto a buzz saw this past weekend, dropping four straight games in the Haskell Invitational Basketball Tournament. With the loss, Eastland slipped to 2-4 heading into their Dec. 12 showdown with Glen Rose.

The Eastland Lady Mavericks picked up another impressive win this past week by downing the Gordon Lady Longhorns by a 63-58 margin.

___ _______ _________ Terry Simmons addressed the commission to make sure everyone had received their invitation to an Eastland County Museum event on November 29th, at which time the museum would receive a $25,000 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority for a new HVAC system. Lunch would be served, he reminded.

The Eastland Mavericks might not be playing Friday night in the Class 3A state playoffs, but you can bet they will have an eye on the scoreboard.

We would like to say Thank You to everyone who came to Bethel Baptist Church Bake & Craft Sale. We had a good turn out. Also thanks to everyone who helped with our Community Thanksgiving Dinner, those who brought food and to those who served. We had another good turnout.
