GRAHAM LIVESTOCK COMMISSION, LLC Sale Every Monday Starting at 10:00 AM, Graham, Texas (940) 549-0078 December 18, 2023 Receipts were 994 including 281 Packer cows, Bred Cows, and Pairs. 713 Calves and Yearlings. We had 155 consignors and 47 buyers. Packer cows were steady to $2 higher. Packer bulls were steady. Young replacement cows and pairs were steady. The market for steers and heifers weighing 500# and under were steady. The market for steers and heifers weighing over 500# were steady. We had a good run of cattle today with the market being steady with active bidding.

My grandmother, Lilly Lucretia Stephens Donaway, had an aunt who died crossing Sandy Creek at high water in 1926. Her name was Missouri Margaret Nusbaum and my grandmother inherited her 80 acres and a trunk that was stored underneath the kitchen sink at my grandparents' farm west of Cisco. I was told “Stay out of Aunt Sis' trunk.”

DPS Reminds Everyone to Make Safety a Priority this Holiday Season

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) encourages everyone to put safety at the top of their list this holiday season. The Texas Highway Patrol (THP) is conducting its annual Christmas and New HDUV KROLGD WUDIF enforcement campaign, which began Dec. 22 and is running through the rest of the year. Troopers will be out on the roads looking for people who are speeding, not wearing their seat belts, driving while intoxicated or FRPPLWWLJ RWKHU WUDIF violations.

On December 13, 2023 the Bluebonnet Chapter of Association was hosted by the City of Eastland. 15 City Secretaries met at The Connellee Hotel and Civic Center in Eastland. Eastland Mayor Larry Vernon and Eastland City welcomed City Secretaries from across the region and provided a meal of yummy chili, beans and potato soup The meal was sponsored by Clint Coffee State Farm Insurance, who, along with the City of Eastland, provided Goody Bags to all attendees. Several attendees brought items for a Silent Auction. This auction helps provide funds for our scholarships for continuing education or TMCCP Cer After the meal, the City Secretaries conducted their quarterly business meeting. Highlights of the meeting include: newly elected officers taking their Oath of Office; the 2023 Blue bonnet Chapter Municipal Clerk of the Year was awarded to Abilene Deputy City Secretary Kaitlin Richardson.
