Dorothy Fay (Exline) Preston, 89, passed away after a lengthy illness, December 22, 2023, at The Woodlands Nursing Center in Eastland, Texas.
She was born May 12, 1934, in Cisco, Texas, the daughter of Gertie Anderson Exline and Jim Green Exline. She attended Cisco Public Schools. She married the love of her life, Charles Raymond Preston, December 1, 1957, who predeceased her. They made Cisco their home and shared two children, Beverly Preston Hawari (Kenneth) of Taos, New Mexico and Kenneth Duane Preston (Kathy) of Cisco. They would have celebrated 66 years of marriage this year. She spent her married years as a devoted homemaker and shared her love of quilting and cooking with her family and friends. Following the death of her husband, Dorothy served in home health care for several years. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary #4136 of Eastland, serving in various positions. She also dedicated her time to caring for both her mother and her mother-in-law during their elder years.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Nellie Stagner and her brother, Paul Exline of Ranger. Surviving, in addition to her children with Charles, are her daughter, Jane Waters, of Weatherford, seven grandchildren Kyle Hawari, Kari Vogler, Shannon Hawari, Kolton Preston, Darci Thomas, Brandon Waters, Logan Waters, and 10 great-grandchildren.
