The Eastland Mavericks ran headlong onto a buzz saw this past weekend, dropping four straight games in the Haskell Invitational Basketball Tournament. With the loss, Eastland slipped to 2-4 heading into their Dec. 12 showdown with Glen Rose.
The Mavs opened the tournament with a 51-41 loss to Jim Ned. Despite the loss, Laike Kennedy, Isaiah Hays and Grady Galyean all scored into double figures.
Eastland suffered a 72-46 loss to Holiday in the second round, and then came up on the short end of a 72-49 loss to Graham in their next outing. The closed out the tournament with a 59-40 loss to Merkel.
