‘Holiday in the Park’ project funds Gorman SkillsUSA students at District level; Now advancing to State competition

Gorman SkillsUSA chapter has had success with community service projects over the last few months. The SkillsUSA chapter hosted the “Holiday in the Park” to raise money for the students to compete at the district level contest. This project raised $2,500 that funded 13 students to compete and travel last month to Ft. Worth. The SkillsUSA chapter had a fantastic turn out with the following placements: Ruby Resendiz Landa - Gold Nailcare Brandy Formby- Gold Job demonstration “Open” Ceidy Guzman/ Paige Johnson / Kayle Nichols- Gold in Community service Emma Little- First place Job exhibit Lauren Campbell -Bronze Esthetics Ceidy Guzman -Bronze Nailcare Paige Johnson -Bronze Barbering Shawndelle Harrington -District 4 - Adviser of the year These students will go on to compete at state March 30-April 1st in Corpus Christi. On Thursday, March 17th, 2022 multiple fires erupted throughout Eastland County. Hot and cold, I think I’m ready for some consistency. But that will never happen in Texas. What can happen though is that everyone can mow their weeds and any grass that is too high. I drove around town over the weekend, and we are looking pretty shaggy. It’s been nice this winter not having to worry about mowing, but that time is over.
