Gorman has a little hidden jewel downtown its Zhuzh Bakery and Cookie Studio. Several of us went to see what all the talk was about and took one of their cookie decorating classes. When you first walk in all you could smell was that heavenly aroma of a bake shop. The room was filled with cookies laid out on tables with colorful icing bags. Our instructor April James was wonderful, she walked us through step by step. The good thing is if you mess it up you can just eat it. For instance my little spring bee resembled a elephant with wings. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. And let me tell you we have some very talented people here in Eastland County.
April and her husband came to the little town of Gorman from Oregon where they had a cookie studio and she held local cookie decorating classes and shipped custom made cookies throughout the US. They have cakes, cookies, cinnamon buns and more and while your there have a cup of coffee with your treat.
The word “zhuzh” means “to make something more stylish, lively, or attractive.” And the James’ have sure done that. I encourage you to go visit the bakery you won’t be sorry!
