This SkillsUSA chapter also hosted Angel tree for the community of Gorman. This is a very touching opportunity when it comes to serving your own community. When holidays hit and the bills still need to be paid. This community service helps families that need that extra during the most joyful time of the year as a child. The SkillsUSA chapter meet with Belinda Segura, to learn how important it is to host this activity for our community. The students felt lead to take the project over and help grow in area’s that will be welcomed to the community to help these families. The SkillsUSA chapter helped 54 Angel nominated by the community. The Gorman community’s help is what made this possible with donating gifts for angels. Thank you to all that helped as you made this a successful opportunity for families and students. The touching part of this activity was seeing the students plan and get excited with pure joy to serve others. They looked forward to preparing the gifts for the families they had the opportunity to help.
As the end of the school year approaches the SkillsUSA chapter has 4 seniors starting to prepare for graduation. Two of these students are a part of the cosmetology program. This will be the first year for Gorman to have students graduating for the new program. Paige Johnson and Ruby Resendiz Landa have taken the first step with the passing of the written operator test. It will be exciting to see these students take their leadership skills into the work force as skilled workers.
