Colorado City’s Jesse Rivera had never heard of Kase Kirkland prior to the West Texas Rural Youth Football League’s season opener on Saturday at Wolf Stadium.

Eastland County Museum is pleased to announce that it is hosting the Texas Lakes Trail traveling exhibit on the historic Chisholm Trail beginning August 31. The Texas Historical Commission celebrated the 150th anniversary of this fabled trail which took millions of longhorns north to railroads in Kansas. The money from the sale of the longhorns brought Texas out of the financial disaster following the Civil War. The exhibit is composed of 34 panels and is complementary to the excellent Texas Historic Commission brochure on the Chisholm Trail. It will be on display thru October 27. Eastland County Museum hours are Thursdays thru Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. when volunteers are available. Eastland County Museum is located at 114 S. Seaman St., Eastland. There is never a fee to visit the Museum. Donations are welcome.

Millie Barrow and Amy O’Brien Glenn, of the Morton Valley EE Club, attended the annual District 8 Retreat on Tuesday , August 8 in Centerville, Texas. The Retreat was hosted by Leon County EE Association.

The Gorman Exes will host the annual Homecoming visitation on Saturday morning, September 9 at the Gorman Community Center next door to City Hall in downtown Gorman. This event will be held from 9 AM to 12 Noon. School pictures will be on display with coffee and tables set up for visiting. It is being held during the annual Peanut Festival celebration and all ex students and guests are welcome. Call 254.734.5787 if more information is needed regarding this event.

10-year plan includes project aimed at improving safety, mobility, maintenance and more Governor Greg Abbott announced a record $142 billion in total investment for Texas’ transportation infrastructure. The record investment includes the unanimous adoption of the $100 billion 10year statewide roadway construction plan with the Texas Department of Transportation (Tx-DOT) for transportation projects to enhance safety, improve congestion and connectivity, and preserve Texas roadways. This is a $25 billion increase in total investment from the previous year.
