The was joy in Maverick Land, at last.
The Eastland Mavericks stunned sixth-ranked Jim Ned on Friday by grinding out an impressive 21-19 victory in front of a large crowd at Maverick Stadium. Eastland’s defense denied a two-point conversion attempt with less than 2 minutes to play to cement the victory.
The win marked a milestone in Eastland High School history. Not only did it snap a 5-game losing streak that dated back to last season, it gave new EHS head coach Bobby Schuman the first victory.
