The Ranger Veterans Support Group attended the Vietnam “TET” reunion Saturday the 3rd of February. This event is hosted by the “Abilene Grunts Assoc.” and Texas Veterans.

Dean Mason, Sports Information Director of Ranger College, spoke to Ranger Lions Club members about his position as Sports Information Director and all this position includes. It is certainly not an “eight hour a day position - weekends free” workplace he explained, as anything can come up at anytime and games are also scheduled for the weekends. Mason said he felt very privileged to hold the position, however, and to work with the excellent coaches and athletes at Ranger College. The Cisco Fire Department is proud to announce Firefighter Ashley Perez will be promoted to Captain on February 20, 2024, and will take over B Shift. Perez has been with the fire department since April of 2020. Congratulations!

FORT WORTH, TEXAS, January 30, 2024 – Avery Walton, a FFA member from Cisco, captured Champion fine-wood purebred Ewe with Benz 3472 in the Junior Breeding Sheep Show at the 2024 Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo (FWSSR) on January 21.

The Cisco College Women’s Basketball Team is performing better this semester than it has in recent years, ranked fourth in its conference with a 13-6 overall record as of last week. A key component of this record is Kylee Norman of San Antonio, who is not even a member of the team after a knee injury last spring caused her to sit out the fall and spring semester of this season.

Put on your dancing shoes for an evening of bonding with your little ladies. The annual Flatwood Cemetery Association meeting will be held on Sat., February 17th at 10 AM. We will be discussing plans on how we can make the cemetery better. The Gorman Lady Panthers found the perfect way to get back on track following a recent loss to Gordon – they pounded out impressive wins over rivals Strawn and Huckabay last week.

The Eastland High School Mavericks will get the opportunity to get familiar with a few new places over the next two seasons, thanks to the University Interscholastic League’s biennial redistrict process. The Mavericks were one of several Eastland County football and basketball teams to see shifts in their districts on February 1.

The Gorman Lady Panthers and Cisco Lady Loboes continued to score points with the state’s pollsters this past week. Both teams were ranked among the best in their respective classifications, according to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches’ Feb. 5 poll.
