Learn how diet impacts the brain and how healthier eating habits could improve brain health at a Lunch and Learn Seminar offered by Texas Education Extension Association (TEEA). The seminar’s focus is Women’s Nutrition and Lifestyle: Cognition and Brain Health During the Best Years. This free session, Monday, February 6 at 11:30 a.m. at the Scott Bailey Event Center, 201 W. Main Street, Eastland, is open to the public. TEEA invites you to be our guest for a potluck lunch.

Have an early case of spring fever, here’s the cure! Grab your garden gloves and join other garden enthusiasts for a workday at the Community Garden, First Methodist Church, 215 W. Mulberry on Thursday, January 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Box lunch, snacks and water will be provided. Workday tasks include repair and re-building garden beds, prepping beds for spring planting and clearing debris.

King Lobo Hunter Long and Queen Lobo Livi Whitehill, XCI (91st), were presented in a coronation ceremony at Cisco College Harrell Fine Arts Auditorium on January 19, 2023. Both are members of the senior class of Cisco High School.

Sandy Hazelip & Ellie Hamby, at 81 years old, flew out of Dallas, Texas on January 11th for their long planned World Tour: Around the World at 80; visiting all 7 continents, in 80 days. This trip was inspired by the movie, “Around the World in 80 Days.”

The Eastland boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will square off against rival Breckenridge in a key District 8-3A showdown on Friday. The games will begin at 6:15 p.m. in the Buckaroo Special Events Center.

An article about the Eastland Lady Mavericks that appeared in last week’s edition of the Eastland County Today incorrectly identified several players. The Today regrets the statistical error.

Heavenly Father, I believe you are God. You are the Creator of Heaven and Earth. You are the God of eternity. You are the ‘Lover’ of my soul.

(Reprinted from April 8, 2021) Good relationships are founded upon the relationship we have with God and secondly with ourselves, The Bible tells us in the book of Mark; “and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart”,,, and ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ {Mark 12:3031} in other words, I need to receive the love that God has for me, and I also need to love myself…. that’s how I can love others.

The Eula Pirates claimed a pair of key District 13-A victories on Friday by sweeping past Rising Star. The Eula boys recorded a 71-32 decision over Rising Star.

In Matthew 24, Jesus’ disciples asked Him when the end would come. 4 Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. {Ephesians 2:8, 9} Moses was forty years old when he fled Egypt for fear of his life. Forty years later he came back to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. What had changed? He had made his great decision. He concluded that faith and truth in company with agony and hardship were better than wealth and fame and the absence of God’s love. Few men in history have been called upon to make a more difficult decision than his.
