On Sunday, July 16th, at approximately 3:40 PM, Deputies with Eastland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a distressing incident involving an ATV accident on a private property, located north of Cisco off Hwy 183. Initial investigations reveal that a 14 year old juvenile male was operating a Ranger ATV when he unfortunately lost control of the vehicle. As a result, the ATV overturned, tragically pinning the young individual underneath it, resulting in a fatal outcome.
The Sheriff’s Office is working diligently to provide support during this difficult time and will continue their investigation to uncover further details surrounding the incident. However, since this is still an ongoing investigation, no other details are being released. Sheriff Weger expressed his deep condolences, saying, “Our hearts ache for the family and friends of the young victim who lost their life in this tragic ATV accident. No words can adequately express the pain and sorrow we feel for their unimaginable loss. We are here to support them during this difficult time, and our thoughts and prayers are with them. We also want to remind the community of the importance of safety when operating recreational vehicles and urge everyone to take every precaution necessary to prevent such devastating incidents.”
The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the DPS Troopers, Cisco Fire Department, and Eastland Memorial ambulance for their assistance.
