The next musical is Saturday, November 4, 2023.

The 5th graders at Siebert Elementary School in Eastland invite you to join them for their annual Hometown Heroes Program on Friday, November 10 at 9:00 or 2:30 pm. Veterans, Fire, Police and members of the medical community will be celebrated during this time. There will a reception in your honor after the morning program.

The Millsap Bulldogs kept their postseason playoff hopes alive on Friday. And seriously damaged the Eastland Mavericks’.

Weather was perfect, and tractors rived up and ready to roll at the annual Carbon Tractor Pull on Saturday, Oct. 21st. Proceeds help to support Carbon Fire Department. There were 126 entries in this year’s pull.

The annual meeting of the Bullock Cemetery Association will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bullock Schoolhouse on County Road 717, north of Ranger, Texas. Anyone interested is invited. Donations or memorials may be mailed to Bullock Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 316, Ranger, Tx 76470 or brought to the meeting. We look forward to seeing everyone this year.

Harmony Baptist Church and Pastor Glenn Clark would like to invite the community to attend a note burning and Pioneer Day celebration on Sunday, October 29th to commemorate the payoff of our new Christian Life Center. After less than 4 years since our groundbreaking on October 24, 2019, our new Christian Life Center is paid off. The celebration will start at 11:00 am with 'favorite hymn sing' and observing of the Lord's Supper. This will be followed by a Pot-Luck Lunch at noon. We will then “Burn the Note” on the building and have an afternoon of fun and games including Corn Hole, Axe-Throwing, Yard Darts, Cake Walk, Horse Shoes, and much more! Match your skills with others in our church! The community is invited to wear your pioneer gear and join us for an afternoon of fun. Harmony is located at 126 CR 334 at the crossroads of Hwy 112, Hwy 101, and CR 334 five miles north of Eastland.

Texas Family Defense Committee is pleased to screen No Farmers, No Food: Will You Eat the Bugs? Thursday, October 26, at 6:30 p.m. It will be shown in the Big Dam Room of the Myrtle Wilks Community Center, 1498 West I 20, Cisco.

EARLY VOTING HAS BEGUN

There will be a fundraiser dinner hosted by the Cottonwood Historical Association on Friday, October 27th. It’ll be at the Cottonwood Community Center with dinner served from 5:00 PM until 8 PM (or until they run out!). On the menu is Smoked Turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes or mashed potatoes and gravy, rolls and green beans. Your choice of dessert and drinks are also included. Dinner is $15 per plate or $5 for kids under 10. The music will start at 5:30 with some great talent!

Eastland County Retired Teachers’ Association will host a meeting with Texas House Representative David Spiller, who will be speaking on Proposition 9 at a town hall meeting at the Conrad N. Hilton Center in Cisco at 6 p.m. on Monday, October 30th. Active and retired school employees, as well as other people interested in public education, are invited to hear more about Proposition 9 and other timely topics. Please make plans to be there.
