Notice is hereby given that the Gorman City Commission will meet in Regular Session at 5:30 p.m. in the Gorman Community Center Meeting Room at 118 S. Kent St. Gorman, on June 1, 2023, to consider the following agenda items: 1. Opening Prayer, followed by Pledge of Allegiance and Texas Pledge, Attendance 2. Call the Meeting to Order 3. Swearing in of Commissioners 4. Approve the Minutes of the Previous Meeting 5. Approve the Bills for Payment 6. Citizens Forum and Input Maximum 5 Minutes 7. Reports From Department Heads 8. 2nd Reading of Ordinance #2023-06-01 An Ordinance Adopting a Budget for Fiscal Year 2023-24; a) Consider expenditures/revenues for the upcoming year 9. Discuss and Consider Amending Ordinance #2022-01-06 Animal Control: Revise Numbers, Indoor Only License, Lot Size, Etc 10. Mayor’s Report and Update and Discuss Future Agenda Items for Consideration Posted by order of the Gorman City Commission on May 26, 2023 of the above and foregoing agenda items, which require action, may be acted upon by the City Commission. The Commission reserves the right to convene into Executive Session on any of the above items if said items qualify pursuant to the Texas Open Meetings Act.

GEDC Director’s Report April 2023

By Tommy Wells The Gorman Panthers did everything the needed to do this past weekend to win their Region I-IA semifinal showdown. Unfortunately for the Panthers, so did the May Tigers.

Hayden Clark drove in five runs and Nashton Guthery tossed a five-hitter on Saturday and helped the Gorman Panthers complete a stunning upset of topranked Ira in the Region I-1A quarterfinals with an 11-1 victory in front of a large crowd at Abilene Christian High School.

I hope the hail we received didn’t ruin everyone’s gardens. We were fortunate at our house and the large hail was very sparce. We do appreciate the rain though that came with it and the rain we’ve received since. Vicki and I have been busy trimming trees and bushes and planting some flowers and trying to stay ahead of the weeds in the yard and flower beds.

By Tommy Wells, Joseph Rainey didn’t deliver the hit that was heard around the world on Friday. He did, however, deliver the one that knocked the Eula Pirates out of the postseason.

Delila Crain punched her ticket to the state track meet in two events this past weekend en route to highlighting a stellar outing by the Gorman Lady Panthers at the Region III-1A Track and Field Championships in Whitney. The Lady Panthers turned in one of the school’s best-ever finished at the regional meet by finishing sixth overall.

Gorman ISD Kindergarten celebrated filling up all the bubbles, by having 100% (no missed questions) on IXL lessons or 100% on AR tests, with root beer floats.
