Hi, my name is Lilly’Ann Rodriguez and I am the Cisco High School Lobo Mascot in Cisco, Texas. I’m a Junior at Cisco High School and have been the Mascot for my school since my freshman year in 2021. I am also a 3 time NCA All-American Mascot. I was awarded the Top Mascot at the NCA Cheer Camp in 2022 held at ASU in San Angelo, Tx and this Years 2023 NCA Cheer Camp held at UTSA in San Antonio, Tx. I’ve also received awards for best props each year. For my accolades as the Best Mascot/All-American I have been invited to participate at the halftime performance of the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl in Orlando Florida on January 1, 2024. I am so honored to be invited along with other Squad & Team Trophy winners and Mascot Al-Americans. I would like to represent Cisco High, our City of Cisco and Eastland County at this once of a lifetime opportunity. As a child I watched my older sister, Cheyenne cheer for the Cisco High School Loboes as the Lobo Mascot from 2013-2017. And I knew I wanted to follow in her footsteps. I saw it as my legacy. I love entertaining the fans and enjoy the smiles I see on the children’s faces as I high five them, dance and take pictures with them. A Friday night for me isn’t complete without my hard work on the sidelines cheering on our football team. In the heat of Texas or the blizzards of winter. It doesn’t end there. I along with our cheerleaders support our basketball, baseball and softball teams throughout the school year. It’s not an easy task in a very heavy and hot costume but I LOVE IT. And I would love to entertain the crowds on a bigger stage at this years Cheez-It Citrus half time show. I would like to be the first Cisco High Mascot to represent us!

Fire Chief Stephen Forbes and his crew hosted an open house event at the Olden Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday. There was a large turnout with those in attendance seeing the fire trucks and equipment. They also learned how to use a fire extinguisher by putting out a small fire. The U.S. Department of Education has recognized 353 schools as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2023. The recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups on assessments.

Homecoming Sweethearts and Beaus Crowned

Eastland Centennial Memorial Library will have a book sale beginning Tuesday, October 3rd. It will be stuff a bag for $4. The bag size will be the normal Brookshires/Walmart plastic bag size. The books will be in the hallway.

First Responders - Texas Brotherhood - from Texas and other states in the southeast are riding across Texas to show support for our fallen heroes and their families. Their stop after Eastland at the County Sheriff’s Department was Moran for the night. If you pass a group of grown men and women riding bicycles, give them a honk and a wave to thank them for what they are doing.

Farmers Market of Eastland celebrates the end of summer and its successful first season. Despite the extreme Summer of 2023, vendors and devoted supporters beat the heat.

The Eastland “Friendship Meal” will be this coming Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023.

October 1, 2023 will be a special day for Eastland Baptist Church. We will have two missionary families with us sharing their burden for the mission fields to which they are called. These are the first two missionaries our young church has invited to be with us. The gospel is needed all over the world. We are so thankful to have young families answering the call of God to take the gospel to places we may never have an opportunity to go. Missions will be a big part of Eastland Baptist Church!

First Methodist Church of Eastland would like to inform you about several ministries we have begun in our church. These ministries encourage attendance from community members and provide opportunities for worship inside the church and out in the community. Here are three ministries we would like to make you aware of: 1.) Reflect & Reconnect (also known as R&R): This service takes places in the Fellowship Hall at the First Methodist Church and begins at 5:30pm with a free meal that is followed by worship and testimony.

The annual C.A.S.T. For Kids event was held at La Mancha on Saturday. This event sponsored by Texas Farm Bureau and hosted by others to enrich the lives of children with special needs. September 17th was Back to Church Sunday at FBC, but I just want to remind everyone regardless of which church you should be attending or to which denomination you belong, that every Sunday is Back to Church Sunday. Church is the place where Christians should be looking forward to attending all week to be recharged and strengthen their faith and to fellowship with others. Olden FD Instructs on putting out Fires

Texas Family Defense Committee welcomes Brian Massey, founder of Abilene-based nonprofit Houses for Healing, to Cisco Thursday, September 28, at 6:30 p.m. He will speak in the Big Dam Room of the Myrtle Wilks Community Center, 1498 West I 20.

Hadley Hampton, Delila Crain and Kayla Falco all raced their way to top 15 finishes this past week and helped the Gorman Lady Panthers power their way to second in the varsity team standings at the Dublin Invitational.

We had 230 consignors and 62 buyers. Packer cows were $10-$12 lower. Packer bulls were $5-$6 lower. Young replacement cows and pairs were steady. The market for steers and heifers weighing 500# and under were $3-$5 lower. The market for steers and heifers weighing over 500# were steady to $2 lower. We had a good run of cattle with the market being cheaper due to it being October.

I know everyone didn’t get six inches of rain a week ago, but we did in Gorman, and I know a lot of folks in the area that also got a good rain. It didn’t do much for the lake, but I know a lot of tanks are looking better. I think everything is looking greener too! It helps that we are getting cooler weather also. Although, only in Texas do we consider the 90’s cooler weather. Thanks to the rain I even had to mow my yard!
