Dr. Sandra Lee, Dean of Allied Health for Ranger College, spoke to Ranger Lions Club recently about nursing programs offered at Ranger College and how the programs are progressing. Ranger College offers both a Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) program and Associate Degree Registered Nurse (RN) program, and a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to Registered Nurse (RN) Bridge Program. In addition, an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program is now part of the college’s curriculum.
“The EMT program enrollment has tripled,” Dr. Lee said. She added that enrollment in nursing programs is also increasing.
New to the nursing program is taking CPR as part of the curriculum, Ranger Lions learned, and “pairing training” - for example pairing pediatrics assessment and emergency care. Dr. Lee explained that this type of training can be critically important in the health care field.
