It’s early, maybe too early to be declaring so soon but from one who has “laid low” for many months due to certain physical conditions.

Pizza, pool, and karaoke was enjoyed by many attendees. This was also Butch Fraser’s birthday celebrated with a cake. Butch has operated the karaoke for many years and is well liked by many.

Dine in or take out chili meals will be available for sale Wednesday, April 5 at Bethel Baptist Church in Eastland from 11 AM to 1:30 PM. Meal for $7.00 will include cobbler or other dessert, nacho peppers, onions, cheese, and tea or water. Or you may want to make a Frito chili pie. Most of the area’s top track and field athletes will converge on Eastland on Thursday for the running of the 2023 Maverick Relays. The meet will get started at 3:30 p.m. at the EHS track.

Spring just might be our favorite season of the year. Sure, we're excited for warm weather, but it's getting into the garden— and planting flowers— that really brightens our spirits. Spring isn't just a time to add some color to your early-season garden; it's also when you can incorporate flowers that will bloom in summer and into fall and even those that come back each spring for years to come.

Good grief, I hope that was the last cold spell! Of course, this is Texas so who knows. No scissortails yet that I’ve seen and those old mesquites still don’t have leaves so we’ll see.

Spring Bingo April 26, 2023 Come eat, laugh, and have lots of fun and fellowship!

In a previous article, I used the dictionary definition of the word PERVERSION: “to alter something from its original course, its meaning or state, to a distortion of corruption of what was first intended”. Perversion is basically the substance of woke culture along with alphabet ideology about sexual orientation. The logical response of most people would be to correct that which has been corrupted and establish its original intent. A parent does this, using a ‘quiet time’ for a misbehaving child, to think about their actions and correct them.

The Cottonwood Historical Association will again be hosting an entertaining musical line up with dinner on Friday, March 24th. The Musical kicks off with dinner at 5:00 pm until 7:00 or until everything is gone! On the menu is King Ranch Casserole, or sandwich, salad, and your choice of dessert and drinks. The music will start at 5:30 and features a variety of tunes from blue grass to country, some country classics and even rock ‘n roll.

Bethel Baptist Church in Eastland is having a huge Rummage and Bake Sale Friday and Saturday, March 24 and 25 from 8 AM to 5 PM. There will be clothes, children’s sports uniforms, furniture, linens, kitchen stuff, jewelry, purses, toys, glassware, plants, what nots, fabric, craft kits and patterns, and lots of miscellaneous. They will also have bake sale items of cakes, cookies, pies, candies, breads and cobblers. And last but not least there will be raffles. Hope to see you there!!!

In any community large or small, towns, organizations, or families, getting along well makes our lives more pleasant. The more we encourage one another and are kind, the more do part to have this happen.

Texas Family Defense Committee regrets that due to scheduling conflicts in the Texas Legislature, advertised guest Faith Bussey Howe will be postponed to another time. Instead, we will show a film, Noncompliant 2--The Sheriff, by Constitutional Attorney KrisAnne Hall. The movie will begin at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, March 23, in the Myrtle Wilks Community Center, 1498 West I 20, Cisco. Admission is free.

PUBLIC THANKS TO TEXAS LEGISLATURE FOR PUBLIC NOTICES

What a day! First we went to the rice fields and saw freshly planted rice with people working in the fields. Next we stopped at the Butterfly Swing and that was a breathtaking experience. The Holy Water Temple was our next stop and it was a most beautiful site to see. Our next adventure for the day was driving the winding, narrow, jungle mountain roads to the Batur volcano. The last adventure was the amazing Elephant Park where we saw the Sumatra elephants, the smallest elephants in the world.

BROWNWOOD – March is Women’s History Month, and Thursday, March 8, marked International Women’s Day. This month, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) celebrates women of the Department who serve the citizens of Texas and make TxDOT’s mission statement “Connecting you with Texas” a reality. These women work alongside men, often breaking stereotypes from years past.
