Good grief, I hope that was the last cold spell! Of course, this is Texas so who knows. No scissortails yet that I’ve seen and those old mesquites still don’t have leaves so we’ll see.
Gardeners are getting cabin fever and ready to go for sure based on calls and converstaions. Gardening can be as scientific, or, as simple as you make it. That “degree of difficulty” is strictly up to you. The simple version is all plants need water, soil, and sun to grow. The other side of that coin is all plants need water, soil, nutrients, and sun in the correct amounts at the correct time to grow well.
Most of the time when you are looking at plants or seed, they indicate the sunlight requirements. So, what does that mean and how much sun do you actually have where you want to put that plant? The best way to determine that is to write down if the area is in the sun or shade every 30 minutes or so during the day for a couple of weeks during the plants growing season. When you know how much sun hits the area, plant selections can be made for that amount of sun and your success rate improves quickly.
