Greetings My name is James Doyle, and I am asking for your vote on May 6 for the Eastland City Commission. I am currently working on the Eastland Economic Development Board and Planning & Zoning Board which I have served for 5 years. I also volunteer with our Eastland Hospital Volunteers and on our Chamber of Commerce Board. I was born in 1961 at our Eastland Hospital and graduated in the EHS class of 1979. I am currently employed at Atmos Energy for the past 40 years. My wife Nancy and I have 7 children and 14 grandchildren and we attend the Daugherty Street Church of Christ.

The City of Eastland, along with Waste Connections, has offered free bagged leaf pickups on the second and fourth Fridays of each month beginning in December. This service for the season will end on Friday, April 28, 2023. All bagged leaves must be placed at the curb no earlier than 24 hours in advance of a scheduled pick up. Residents must call Eastland City Hall at 254-629-8321 to be placed on the pick-up list at least 24 hours before a pick-up date.

Hi, I’m Shirley Stuart and I am running for City Commissioner for the City of Eastland. Many of you know me, while many of you do not. For those who do not, let me offer a brief introduction: I’ve lived in Eastland since 1975, with the exception of moving to Fredericksburg for two years following retirement. After two years being away from Eastland, I realized how much I missed the town, my friends and my family, and moved back “home” in 2021.

By Tommy Wells Jay Oznick and Audrey Ivey continued to write their names into the Eastland Mavericks’ record books this past week by turning in a stellar outing at the Area Track and Field Championships in Jacksboro. The two seniors highlighted their respective team’s outing by qualifying for the Region II-3A meet.

The annual work day for the Flatwood Cemetery is set for Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 9:00 until 12:00. Please bring tools to spread dirt and trim trees. At noon we will have our yearly flag dedication. This year’s flag will be in honor of the Dove family. We will then have lunch. Please bring your favoirte foods and desserts. Nancy Robinson Masters to Discuss Predatory Publishing

The Ranger Citizens Task force will be hosting a professional bull riding May 20, 2023 at the old Ranger Sale Barn. The Bartee Metals Roaring Ranger Bull Riding will be produced by Chute 2 Productions, a production company out of Springtown, TX. The event is sanctioned by the World Professional Bull Riders Organization headquartered in Corsicana, Texas. There will be three action packed shows on Saturday, the first show at 2:30 is the Fulenwider Auto Group Pro Am. This performance will feature some 35 riders on some of the rankest bulls in the state. At 5 pm there will be a “stand alone” Mutton Bustin event for the kids. Mutton registration will be at the arena from 2:30 4:30 , cost is $25 and kid must be 55 lbs or less.

The Ranger Veterans Commission and Veterans Support Group will be honoring Memorial Day at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park in Ranger. The time and details will be in the next article. We want everyone to be there. This is a very important day to remember the men and women that put their lives on the line for our country.

RANGER TRACK-- The 2023 track season has come to an end for the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs following the district meet last week in Tolar.

Texas Family Defense Committee invites you to a free screening of Leaving California: The Untold Story Thursday, April 27, 2023. This will be in the Myrtle Wilks Community Center, 1498 West I 20, Cisco. There is no charge.

Mitchell Cemetery will be having its annual cleanup and meeting on May 6th at 8:00. We welcome anyone who would like to help. Bring your mowers, weed eater and rakes. Hope to see you there.

The annual meeting of the Romney Cemetery Association will be May 1, 2023 at 7:00 PM We will meet in the pavilion at the cemetery. Donations are greatly appreciated as a way to provide for the perpetual care fund. Looking forward to seeing all members there.
