Wranglers survive wild, wild week to advance to Region V tournament
Wranglers survive wild, wild week to advance to Region V tournament

When the weekend started, the Cisco College Wranglers were on the outside looking in at the Region V Baseball Championships. Then, on Saturday, the Wranglers completed a sweep of the North Central Texas College Lions and found themselves in a threeway tie for fourth in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference standings. Still, the baseball gods didn’t shine on Cisco. The Wranglers, by virtue of tie-breaker rules in the conference, finished two points behind rival Ranger College in a power ranking poll based on how each team had done against the top squads in the conference during the regular season. On Tuesday, the tables turned – again. NTJCAC Commissioner Stan Feaster notified the conference that Ranger College had withdrawn from the regional tournament – a fact that will send Cisco to the postseason.

A Mother’s apron is a badge of her trade Whether cooking or cleaning or beds to be made Or wipe away a child’s tears while doing other things Or memories of someone untying her apron strings Maybe she picks up toys the children left laying around Maybe she picks up little chicks or a kitten she found Maybe on a walk they picked flowers along the way Maybe she began to bake for the holidays When she puts on her apron to bake Do you expect to find an angel in an Angel cake?

Eastland PD, Local Business re-kindle Teddy Bear Program

The Eastland Police Department has teamed up with a local business to rekindle an on-going Teddy Bear Program Brandon’s Dozer Service has graciously sponsored and purchased Teddy Bears to be placed in our squad cars. Teddy Bears have been around for some time, in fact, way back to President Teddy Roosevelt’s era (1902). After a little reading, it was learned that Brooklyn candy store owners Rose and Morris Michtom made the first stuffed bear toy based off a cartoon, which they appropriately named Theodore Roosevelt and over time became known as the Teddy Bear. This couple from Brooklyn, according to some stories made the bear after a hunting trip that President Roosevelt was on where he refused to shoot a tied up bear. They were so moved by this act, they were inspired to make the stuffed bear.
