Cities of Gorman, Rising Star see Increases this Payment Period

The Gorman High School Panthers will be well represented at the Class A state cross country meet this coming weekend. Overall, Gorman will have eight runners, including Hadli Hampton and Triston George, competing at state meet on Nov. 2 at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock.

The Gorman Panthers will try and get into the win column in grand style on Friday. The Panthers will host Bryson in their final home game of the 2023 season.

The Gorman Lady Panthers had eight eight runners place in the top 11 spots this past week and cruised to the district cross country championship. The Lady Panthers’ performance highlighted a sensational outing in which Hadli Hampton led the Gorman girls won the varsity team title, while Triston George and Emma De La Cruz won the boys’ varsity anf girls’ junior varsity races.

By Tommy Wells The Perrin-Whitt Pirates scores six times in the third quarter on Friday and rallied to claim a wild 70-44 comefrom- behind win over the Gorman Panthers in District 6-A action. The Pirates had trailed at the half by a 24-21 clip.

As the Postmaster of Gorman, I am excited to let our community know of several significant updates that will enhance service and ensure a seamless experience for our customers during the upcoming holiday season: No Holiday Surcharges — There will be no additional surcharges for Postal Service customers for holiday packages or mail and there will be no additional fees for residential area delivery, for Saturday delivery or for minimum volumes. USPS will continue to be the most affordable way to mail and ship this holiday season.

FIRE PREVENTION WEEK AT GORMAN ISD

The Gorman Panthers will return from their bye week with a big chore standing in their way – third-ranked Gordon.

Notice is hereby given that the Gorman City Commission will meet in Regular Session at 5:30 p.m. in the Gorman Community Center Meeting Room at 118 S. Kent St. Gorman, on October 5, 2023, to consider the following agenda items.

The Hispanic Heritage Celebration

Hadli Hampton legged out a top 20 finish last week and helped spur the Gorman Lady Panthers to sixth at the Brock Invitational. Hampton completed the 2-mile race in 15th place, She was one of 69 varsity girls’ competing in the event. Esmerelda Ervin and Delila Crain both ran their way into the top 30. Ervin was 26th overall, while Crain took 29th. Other GHS runners doing well included Kayla Falco (37) and Mariella Rodriquez (45th). Virginia Bivens, Alina Torres, Kyndall Scitern, Emma De La Cruz and Jessica Solis also ran for Gorman. Triston George led the Panthers’ efforts by placing 14th in the varsity boys’ race. Gorman will return to the trails later this week when they compete in the Stephenville Invitational. The meet will be held in the Stephenville City Park, beginning at 9 a.m.

The U.S. Department of Education has recognized 353 schools as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2023. The recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups on assessments.

September 17th was Back to Church Sunday at FBC, but I just want to remind everyone regardless of which church you should be attending or to which denomination you belong, that every Sunday is Back to Church Sunday. Church is the place where Christians should be looking forward to attending all week to be recharged and strengthen their faith and to fellowship with others.
