LETTER TO THE EDITOR

As the Postmaster of Gorman, I am excited to let our community know of several significant updates that will enhance service and ensure a seamless experience for our customers during the upcoming holiday season: No Holiday Surcharges — There will be no additional surcharges for Postal Service customers for holiday packages or mail and there will be no additional fees for residential area delivery, for Saturday delivery or for minimum volumes. USPS will continue to be the most affordable way to mail and ship this holiday season.

Hampton helps Lady Panthers take 6th at Brock

Hadli Hampton legged out a top 20 finish last week and helped spur the Gorman Lady Panthers to sixth at the Brock Invitational. Hampton completed the 2-mile race in 15th place, She was one of 69 varsity girls’ competing in the event. Esmerelda Ervin and Delila Crain both ran their way into the top 30. Ervin was 26th overall, while Crain took 29th. Other GHS runners doing well included Kayla Falco (37) and Mariella Rodriquez (45th). Virginia Bivens, Alina Torres, Kyndall Scitern, Emma De La Cruz and Jessica Solis also ran for Gorman. Triston George led the Panthers’ efforts by placing 14th in the varsity boys’ race. Gorman will return to the trails later this week when they compete in the Stephenville Invitational. The meet will be held in the Stephenville City Park, beginning at 9 a.m.

Gorman’s Maxfield Elementary Receives 2023 National Blue Ribbon School Award

The U.S. Department of Education has recognized 353 schools as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2023. The recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups on assessments.

GOING ON AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH IN GORMAN

September 17th was Back to Church Sunday at FBC, but I just want to remind everyone regardless of which church you should be attending or to which denomination you belong, that every Sunday is Back to Church Sunday. Church is the place where Christians should be looking forward to attending all week to be recharged and strengthen their faith and to fellowship with others. If you are not in regular attendance at a church, I invite you to visit us at FBC Gorman. We would love to welcome you! If you have never been to FBC Gorman, we are located at 218 West Ross Street. Lady Panthers race their way to 2nd in Dublin

Hadley Hampton, Delila Crain and Kayla Falco all raced their way to top 15 finishes this past week and helped the Gorman Lady Panthers power their way to second in the varsity team standings at the Dublin Invitational.

I know everyone didn’t get six inches of rain a week ago, but we did in Gorman, and I know a lot of folks in the area that also got a good rain. It didn’t do much for the lake, but I know a lot of tanks are looking better. I think everything is looking greener too! It helps that we are getting cooler weather also. Although, only in Texas do we consider the 90’s cooler weather. Thanks to the rain I even had to mow my yard!

Gorman falls to 1-4 with loss to Milford

The Gorman Panthers saw their season record dip to 1-4 on Friday with a tough 55-0 setback to the Milford Bulldogs in a non-district matchup.
