Marie Lou Starr

Marie Lou Starr of Cisco went to be with the Lord Monday, April 22, 2024, at the age of 77.

Marie was born December 24, 1946 in Baird. She married Norris Starr November 29, 1962. She was a 1966 graduate of Cisco High School. Marie was a dedicated stay at home mom until her children were grown, at which point she worked as a seamstress for a time.

She served as president and treasurer of the Scranton Community Center Musical and was president for Mitchell Baptist Cemetery.

Marie was a devout Christian. She and Norris were members of First Baptist Church Cisco, where Marie was deeply involved in service to the Lord, serving as a Sunday School teacher, church cook, and choir member. She taught herself to read music and play the piano at an early age, and began playing in churches. Marie loved her grandchildren, and loved to laugh. She had a smile that lit up the room.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elvy and Mary Rice Taylor; her twin sister Amy Sue McClanahan, and a daughter, Melony Sue Starr Hernandez.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Norris, of Cisco; sister Elizabeth Cozart and husband Larry of Stephenville; daughter Tona Farrar and husband James of Benbrook; son David Starr and wife Loanna of Eastland; five grandchildren, Taylor Butler, Austin Farrar, Christopher Hernandez, Robert Hernandez and Anthony Combs; three great-grandchildren, Blake Butler, Ash Greene and Leelu Combs; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 25, 2024, at First Baptist Church Cisco, with Pat Riley and How- ard Stovall officiating.
