The name Caryl Lawrence and “4-H” in Eastland County go hand in hand. Caryl has tirelessly served for 18 years on the Eastland County 4-H Adult Leaders Advisory Board, 12 years as the Rising Star 4-H Club Manager, serves as 4-H Council Adult Advisor, and has been the Eastland County Livestock Raiser Association Secretary for 12 years. Most importantly she has raised 4 very active 4-H members who have been pillars of the County program.
Caryl’s leadership has created continuity, integrity, and mentorship to the youth of Rising Star. As a matter of fact, some youth drive in to Rising Star just to be in her club from other communities in Eastland County. Caryl has led the club in many community projects in Rising Star and is always giving back to the community. Projects such as making quilts, cards, and gifts for the local nursing home, annual canned food drives, Christmas caroling to the elderly, and assisting the Rising Star Ag Boosters. Caryl has served actively on the Eastland County Adult Leaders Advisory Board for 18 years and served in many Officer positions, she currently serves as Secretary of the Board. Caryl has also served for 12 years as the Eastland Livestock Association Secretary and is the “GO TO PERSON” and has the operational historic knowledge for the County Livestock Show. Caryl encourages her 4-H members to be active in their club, projects, completing record books, and all county events. Caryl has raised 4 of her own 4-H’ers in her home with her husband Howard. Each of her children have been very active, and excelled in the 4-H program and con-tinue to work and volunteer in the Agricultural arenas, including volunteering with 4-H. 4-H is a way of life for Caryl.
Caryl and her husband work in Ranch Management in the cattle industry in their “spare time.” Eastland County Extension Agents always know they can count on Caryl to do the right thing, say the right thing, and show up at the right time, and have the right “wise” answer.
