The Eastland Lady Mavericks pounded out a pair of impressive wins this past weekend and rolled to the girls’ consolation honors at the Eula Holiday Tournament The Lady Mavs, who evened their record at 9-9, opened the threeday tournament on a sour note, falling to Hermleigh, 58-29.
The EHS girls roared back. They downed New Deal in the second round by grinding out a 40-34 decision. They followed that with a gutsy 33-30 win over Tolar in their final outing.
Eastland will return to District 8-3A play on Jan. 6 when they travel to Comanche.
