Jake Bell made sure his final prep season would end on a high note this past weekend by turning in a head-turning effort at the Region II-1A Track and Field Championships at LeGrand Stadium in San Angelo.

One of four Rising Star athletes competing in the tournament, Bell helped the Wildcats finished 12th in the final team standings by walking away with a silver medal in the discus competition. More importantly, his second- place finish earned him a trip to Austin to compete in the upcoming Class 1A state meet.

Bell posted a personal best mark of 147 feet, 11 inches in the event. Teammate Kobey Morris also turned in an impressive effort in the event, finishing fifth overall with a throw of 125-7.
