Delila Crain punched her ticket to the state track meet in two events this past weekend en route to highlighting a stellar outing by the Gorman Lady Panthers at the Region III-1A Track and Field Championships in Whitney. The Lady Panthers turned in one of the school’s best-ever finished at the regional meet by finishing sixth overall.
Crain qualified for the state track meet in both the high jump and triple jump events. One of three GHS athletes to qualify for regional in the triple jump, Crain turned in a record-setting effort en route to winning the regional crown. She posted a personal best jump of 34 feet, 7 inches.
Teammates Emma Clark and Hadli Hampton also did well in the event, finishing 11th and 12th, respectively. Clark turned in a jump of 30-10, while Hampton’s effort measured 30-5 ½.
