Hi, I’m Shirley Stuart and I am running for City Commissioner for the City of Eastland. Many of you know me, while many of you do not. For those who do not, let me offer a brief introduction: I’ve lived in Eastland since 1975, with the exception of moving to Fredericksburg for two years following retirement. After two years being away from Eastland, I realized how much I missed the town, my friends and my family, and moved back “home” in 2021.
I have a background in public service and small business.
Before retiring in 2019, I served as City Secretary for 20 years for the City of Eastland. In the 80’s I owned a beauty supply in Eastland for five years, so I realize the struggles of owning a business, and the importance of supporting small businesses in our community. Prior to my employment with the City, I worked for Westbound Water Supply, Corp. in Cisco, one of the entities that purchases water from the City of Eastland. It was there I learned the day-to-day operations of a water supply. I also prepared budgets, worked with audits and reported to a Board of Directors.
