Cisco, Texas – April 3, 2023 – Cisco College Lady Wrangler Softball swept the Ranger College Lady Rangers on Saturday, 5-4 and 7-0 giving Wrangler head coach, Joel Prickett, his 700th career win.
Coach Prickett began his coaching career as a student-assistant football coach at Cisco College under Chuck Lawrence in the fall of 1996. Coach Susan Moore requested his assistance for the softball program in the spring of 1997, starting a 25 year career coaching junior college softball. He earned his first win as interim head coach at El Paso Community College on February 1, 2002 at the Great Western Shootout in Yuma, AZ against Scottsdale Community College, 4-1.
Coach Prickett moved on to Odessa College where he would lead the Lady Wranglers to a 3rd and 5th place finish at the National Tournament, ultimately leading four Odessa College teams to the National Tournament over his 12 years at Odessa College with 3 top 5 finishes and 5 top 10 finishes. After a short stint at Barton College in Kansas, Coach Prickett came home to Cisco College, back where it all started, as the head softball coach and assistant athletic director. “It’s been an amazing journey and great story full of everything that makes up a great tale,” said Coach Prickett. “I owe a lot of gratitude to many individuals who were there along the way. Great people like Olin Odom, Chuck Lawrence, and Susan Moore, that gave me a chance to succeed. None of this could have been done without amazing assistant coaches like Edna Garcia, Sandra Wente, Brandie Chapman, Karina Cannon, Savannah Flinn, and several others.”
