Mykell Robinson knocked down two free throws with 19 seconds left in regulation on Tuesday afternoon and lifted the Ranger College men's basketball team to a 78-75 victory over Seminole State College in the opening round of the 2023 NJCAA Men's Division I National Basketball Championships. Robinson's free throw was part of a 41-point second-half performance by Ranger that broke open a 37-37 halftime deadlock.
With the win, Ranger College improved to 27-7 overall and, more importantly advanced to the second round of the tournament for the fourth time in the past five years. The Rangers will face fourth-seeded Indian Hills at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Tayton Conerway led all RC scorers in the win over Seminole State by throwing in 24 points. Robinson added 18 more, while B.J. Comer chipped in 13.
