The EHS Maverick Band has been accepted to the UIL State Wind Ensemble Festival in May of 2024 at the University of Texas at Austin. This is a high honor for only 16 bands who apply and “make a first division in concert and sightreading”. The UIL SWEF site says: 1. The goal of this event is not to win an award, but rather to accept the challenge of making music for the sole purpose of performing at the highest level possible for an appreciative, supportive audience in an optimum acoustical space.
2. A corollary to the goal is the expectation that everyone will have the opportunity to be appreciative listeners as others perform in a formal concert setting.
The band previously performed at this event in 2022 and is looking forward to another performance in 2024.
