The Slidell Lady Greyhounds pieced together a 17-5 run in the second quarter on Friday and then held on to claim a 46-29 victory over the Gorman Lady Panthers in a regional semifinal showdown in Mansfield.
With the loss, the Lady Panthers’ season came to an end just two wins shy of a berth in the Class A state tournament. Gorman finished the year with a stellar 33-4 mark. The Lady Panther defense gave Slidell fits early on. Gorman limited the Lady Hounds to just five points in the first eight minutes.
Unfortunately got Gorman, the Slidell defense was just as stingy as the two squads went into the second with the score knotted at 5-5.
