Dr. Helen Usera (pronounced YOU-sera) is a new face at Cisco College. As of Nov. 19, she is the Executive Director of Development & Grants at the college.
She grew up in South Dakota around Lakota Sioux tribe reservations, but when she was 10 years old, her family moved to Kansas. Her father was a chemistry instructor at Labette Community College in Parsons, Kansas, where young Helen attended elementary and graduated from high school. She also attended Labette.
When she was 17, at Christmas time, she came home with an Army recruiter, and her mom thought she was asking for permission to marry.
