It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Martin Denny "Dean" Powledge, who left us peacefully on March 14, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on January 2, 1946, in Eldorado, Arkansas to Edgar and Iris (Crumpler) Powledge, Dean and his family moved to Snyder, Texas at the age of two where he became a beloved member of the community and a devoted parishioner at Trinity Methodist Church.
Dean proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, enlisting on August 13, 1964. Over his remarkable 26-year career, he experienced many pivotal moments, including serving on the USS Liberty during the tragic bombing on June 8, 1967. Because of his valor he was awarded a Bronze Star. He later took on the important role of recruiter for the U.S. Navy, sharing his passion for service with others.
After retiring from the Navy, Dean found a new passion in the oil industry, working as a field superintendent for Pendragon Oil Company. He cherished his work and the relationships he built along the way. Dean was also a devoted family man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
