Old Rip Oath - Feb. 27, 2025 at 9:00 a.m.
Eastland County Courthouse and County Judge David Hullum will be honoring Eastland County’s most famous character, Old Rip the Thursday, Feb. 27th. At 9:00 a.m. the annual Old Rip Commemoration Day and Old Rip Oath will take place in the lobby of the Eastland County Courthouse. Old Rip himself will make an appearance as will the Siebert Singers who will be singing their famous “Old Rip Song”. A short history of Old Rip and the author of the Old Rip Oath, ECT Publisher H.V. O’Brien will be in attendance. Betty Armstrong, better known as the “Old Rip or Horn Frog Lady” will be in attendance as well. Betty lives to promote Old Rip and anything Horny Toads, Horn Frogs, and keeping their memory alive. All new county employees are encouraged to come and take the oath as is customary. Come out for a historic Eastland tradition.
