Nettie Wilson passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025. She was born May 9, 1927 to Bertha and Charles Hood in Bellevue, TX. She spent most of her early years in Colorado and Texas. She graduated from Hereford High School and went on the Texas State College for Women (which is now TWU), earning a degree in Advertising.
Nettie married H.T. (Tom) Wilson, also from Hereford, in September of 1948 at the Little Chapel in the Woods on the TSCW campus. They lived most of their married life in Eastland, TX, where they raised two girls - Shannon and Victoria.
Participating in many activities for the girls, Nettie was involved in PTO, Girl Scouts and Eastland Civic Theatre at Bell Hurst Playhouse. She was also a member and past president of Eastland Civic League, past president of Harmony Club in Abilene, member of the original board of Eastland Fine Arts Association and in charge of student concerts at the Majestic Theater. Nettie was instrumental in bringing Young Audiences to Siebert Elementary and the Piatigorsky Foundation concerts to Eastland. She served at Eastland Memorial Hospital for many years as a volunteer Pink Lady and delivered Meals on Wheels. She was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school, was Sunday School Superintendent, and presided over the Women's Association. She served on the committee to revitalize the City Park. Nettie was awarded the Chamber of Commerce Golden Deeds Award in 1999.
