January Lunch & Learn focuses on Advanced Directives
Whitney Henderson, Kinder Hearts Hospice Community Liaison, introduced Sidney Turney, Kinder Hearts Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), to a group of citizens gathered for the January Lunch & Learn program hosted by Eastland Memorial Hospital on January 29th. January’s Lunch & Learn focused on learning more about Advanced Directives and the important role they play in making informed healthcare decisions and ensuring wishes are honored in the case one can not voice these wishes themselves.
Unfortunately, making an advanced directive is often put off until later in life. However, Sidney Turney emphasized that a medical emergency can happen to anyone - at any age. Important to remember: An advanced directive is only used if you are unable to express your decisions, but if that is the case, it can give you and your loved ones the peace of mind that your wishes will be followed. Furthermore, once an advanced directive has been made, one should look it over from time to time to see if any information needs to be updated.
