Abilene/Cisco, Texas - February 15, 2023 - Former State Representative and champion for public education, Dr. Bob Hunter has died. Dr. Hunter was a very good friend to Cisco College. “Dr. Bob Hunter was instrumental in the development of the Cisco College Abilene campus,” said Cisco College President, Dr. Thad Anglin. “His vision of establishing opportunities for post-secondary education across the Big Country region continues today.”
“On behalf of the Cisco College Board of Regents, Faculty, Staff, Students, and Alumni, we express our gratitude for his friendship and support,” said Anglin. In 2004, Cisco College opened a permanent location for the Abilene Educational Center on the corner of Industrial Boulevard and Loop 322. To honor Dr. Hunter’s support, Cisco College dedicated the Bob Hunter Conference room in his name.
Prior to his involvement with Cisco College, Dr. Hunter was a graduate of Abilene Christian University and after graduating in 1952 he started the annual ACU musical performance, Sing Song. In 1985, he became senior vice president at ACU, retiring in 1993. Also in 1985, Dr. Hunter joined the Texas House of Representatives through a special election serving through 10 legislative sessions.
