Eastland Memorial Hospital District Holds Public Hearing on Expansion of Hospital District to Include all of Eastland County.
For people living in rural areas, access to hospital services can be the difference between life and death, particularly in an emergency. On the average day, we give little thought to the availability we have of an Emergency Room, Ambulance Service, and Hospital care in our county. Yet, Eastland Memorial Hospital has been the only hospital in Eastland County for the last 35 years.
94% of the patients seen by EMH (Eastland Memorial Hospital) come from inside Eastland County. Only 35% of those patients live in the current Eastland Memorial Hospital District, while 30% come from Cisco; 22% come from Ranger; and 7% live in the southern part of the county. Over 60% of the patients that come to Eastland Memorial Hospital for services live outside of the current hospital district.
