Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar has announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations for November, 1.1 percent more than in November 2023.
These allocations are based on sales made in September by businesses that report tax monthly and on sales made in July, August and September by quarterly filers.
(All city sales taxes are collected by the Texas Comptroller, along with the state sales tax. TEX. TAX CODE ยง 321.301. The comptroller then remits the city its portion of the taxes at least twice a year (though it is done more often in practice).
