From the Gorman Mayor

I hope everyone has a blessed Thanksgiving this month! This is always a great time to remember all of our blessings and to thank God for them! This doesn’t mean that everything in our lives and the lives of those we love and care for has been easy or perfect, but is does no good to dwell on anything negative but it does do good to focus on the promise we all have in Christ and on His upcoming birthday!

I have had many complements on our peanut on the water tower and the new paint scheme. Not just from residents, but from people I know from other places that saw it as they drove through town. Because of our history, our town will forever be associated with the peanut industry!

Our Downtown Revitalization Project will be concluding soon. They are way behind their original proposed completion date. I believe all the major concrete work is complete. They are finishing up the work on handrails by the steps and handicap areas and should be painting them soon. The new street lights in that area have been installed and I believe all that is left is concrete work around and installation of storm drain grates and the repairs to asphalt. It is going to look incredible. I hope we get to do more in the future.
