New CC Student Activities Coordinator Kelli Godi Aims for Community Involvement

New CC Student Activities Coordinator Kelli Godi Aims for Community Involvement
Kelli Godi

Kelli Godi is the new Student Activities Coordinator at the Cisco campus of Cisco College, and she has two goals: student engagement and community involvement. She was hired at the end of July and had been driving back and forth from Granbury, but now she and her Air Force husband, Senior Master Sergeant David Godi, have bought land near Desdemona and plan to build a house there. In the meantime, they are living in an RV hooked up at her parents' home in Cisco. Kelli's parents, Michael and Brenda Miller, have lived in Cisco for over 15 years. Her mother works for the Eastland County District Attorney's office, and her father has worked for years at Westbound Water in Cisco. Kelli holds associate degrees from Weatherford College, a bachelor degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Tarleton, as well as a Master of Education degree in Education Administration from Lamar University. She also received her principal's certification as part of her master's degree program. She was a science teacher in Granbury for 9 years, then became an assistant principal of an elementary school in Rio Vista, Texas, moving on to assistant principal of a middle school there. When she and her husband started looking for land in the Eastland County area, she applied for the job at Cisco College and was hired. She has just started in her new job but is already holding game nights for the students. "We did grocery bingo last night," she said. "They play bingo to win grocery items for their dorm, random food items."

In the future she plans to hold scavenger hunts, escape rooms, a hike at the old zoo and swimming hole, a hammock village, frisbee golf, and shuffleboard tournaments. She is coordinating with various companies to bring in outside entertainment and maybe even a paranormal group to investigate on campus. "I know it's really weird, but it's kind of cool."
