CISCO MAYOR STEPHEN FORESTER, CITY COUNCIL MEETING, OCTOBER 15TH, 2024

“As the Mayor of Cisco in an effort to be as transparent and public as possible. I would like to shed light on these rumors. The city council recently discovered that the city had fallen behind on several major financial obligations, including tax payments to the city’s Economic Development Corporation and the city’s solid waste disposal provider. The city council was blindsided by this unexpected financial news as the city had just gone through the annual budgeting process, and this information was not brought to the Council’s attention. The City council is now in the process of formulating a plan for payment of its outstanding financial obligations and establishing processes to ensure that the Council is apprized of the financial condition of the city, both accurately and timely. The City Council is also investigating the past handling of city funds to ensure that all city funds are properly accounted for. This unexpected financial news is certainly not insurmountable, but will require the city to tighten its belt in the upcoming fiscal year to ensure that the city is on firm financial footing.”
