62 Firefighters and 2 EMS crew members were on the scene: Fire damage to 8th floor reported.
Last Thursday night, the Eastland Fire Department responded to a report of smoke coming from the Connellee Hotel in the Eastland downtown area.
Initial arriving crews discovered a working fire on the 8th floor. The incident was immediately upgraded to a 2nd alarm for a working fire in a high rise building. The fire was brought under control using an attack line attached to the building’s dry standpipe system, and was controlled in approximately one hour. There was fire damage to the 8th floor and water damage to some lower floors. The cause of fire was a propane torch used during roofing
