By Bill Arlt The Gorman Panthers celebrated their Homecoming by beating Rising Star 42-20.
The Wildcats got on the scoreboard first when Manning Miller raced around right end for 6 yards and a touchdown. Anthony Pollard kicked the PAT giving the Cats the 8-0 lead with 2:17 remaining in the first quarter. Nathan Rodriquez scored Gorman’s first TD on a 15-yard scamper up the middle with 11 seconds gone in the second quarter. The PAT was missed and the score stood 8-6 in favor of Rising Star.
Rodriguez scored again with 7:33 left in the second quarter and after a successful PAT, the Panthers led 14-8.
