Seth Willliamson and his father Jackie decided not to raise cattle on their ranch in Eastland County because anytime it rained, wash out the fences. “And then you lose your cows,” Jackie said. So instead, the father-son duo are raising shrimp.
“We were looking at doing something on the ranch to make it productive,” Seth said. “I’ve known about shrimp since I was in 8th grade. Freshwater shrimp. I always thought it was interesting. And we have the water resource so it made sense to give it a try.”
Seth did a Google search on where to get prawns. “A friend of mine in Paradise in Wise County hooked us up with a grower. Craig Upstrom, this guy that does the hatchery in Aledo, hatches millions of these shrimp a year.”
