Dr. Alfonso Pino

Dr. Alfonso Pino, a devoted orthopedic surgeon, loving father, grandfather and cherished member of the De Leon community, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of service, compassion, and dedication.

Born in Cuba, Dr. Pino emigrated to the United States in 1967 in search of a better life, bringing with him a deep passion for medicine that would define his career. He dedicated over 37 years of his life to practicing orthopedic surgery in the De Leon area, where he became beloved by patients and colleagues alike. His commitment to his patients was unparalleled, and his work was marked by a tireless pursuit of excellence in both clinical care and research. Dr. Pino was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Alfonso and CaridadPino, his beloved wife of over 50 years, Laverne Pino, and his sons, Dr. Willy Pino and James Parker. His love for his family was evident in the way that he was constantly telling others about them. He is survived by his children, Mimi Oakley, Sue Emory, Bryan Parker, Ricky Parker, and Dr. Alfie Pino, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy of kindness, intellect, and commitment to those he loved.

Dr. Pino will be remembered not only for his significant contributions to the field of orthopedic surgery but also for the countless lives he touched through his work and his generous spirit. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Dr. Pino loved his home country of Cuba. He supported a wonderful organization that brings hope and aid to Cubans in need.

A celebration of Dr. Pino’s life will be held Friday, September 6,2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, De Leon. Dr. Pino was laid to rest beside his wife, Laverne, in a private family graveside committal in Oaklawn Cemetery, Gorman. Condolences may be offered online at www.nowlinandersfh. com.
