By Tommy Wells The Gorman Lady Panthers dropped three spots in the latest Texas Girls Coaches Association rankings following their loss to Tahoka in the first round of the 2022 Jayton Holiday Basketball Tournament, but still remain in the top five.
The Lady Panthers’ district rival Huckabay leaped to the top of the Jan. 1 poll. The Lady Indians join Gorman as two District 19-A squads in the top five of the 1A state rankings.
Nazareth and Neches also climbed in front of Gorman in the poll. Lipan and Mexia topped the 2A and 3A polls, respectively. Class 1A 1. Huckabay 23-2; 2. Nazareth 14-5; 3.Neches 17-2; 4. Gorman 22-1 5. Saltillo 25-3; 6. Dodd City 18-3; 7. Slidell 17-3; 8. Cross Plains 18-3
